Alena Kazlova

Alena Kazlova (Anka Upala) is a Belarusian writer and translator of literature from English, Finnish and Swedish. She is a member of the Belarusian PEN Centre and a member of the Union of Belarusian Writers where she also coordinated the work of the writing school. Her first book, a collection of poetry and short prose, was published in 2012, followed by the autobiographical novel To the Snow-covered Isle shortlisted for the Jerzy Giedroyc Literary Award in 2018. The novel also took the 3d place in the writers' vote as the book of the year.
