New NAARCA Writing Commission by Hanna Guttorm - Now Available

We are delighted to share that 'Prayers, or Love Letters' by Hanna Guttorm – a new writing commissioned by NAARCA – is now available.

Hanna Ellen Guttorm fumbles to learn a more sustainable way of living on the Earth in-between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous worlds as well as in-between arts and sciences.

She has revitalised the language (and culture) of her father, North Sámi, and moves, thinks, feels, and is affected – and vulnerable – within the discourses and materialities of which she happens to live.

She is a senior researcher at the University of Helsinki focusing on Indigenous Studies and is a member of Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Sciences. She is also an Associate Professor in Sámi Teacher Education at the Sámi University of Applied Sciences in Guovdageaidnu.

Co-led by Cove Park and Saari Residence, NAARCA – the Nordic Alliance of Artists' Residencies on Climate Action – is a three-year project that brings together artists' residencies from seven countries to collaborate on research, commissions, institutional change and education around climate action.

All of NAARCA's commissioned texts are written in the author's preferred language and include an English translation.
