We are delighted to announce Endre Harvold Kvangraven as our latest Writer in Residence

Artica Svalbard is delighted to announce that Endre Harvold Kvangraven has joined us as our latest writer in residence, nominated by the Norsk faglitterær forfatter- og oversetterforening. His residency will take place from July to September 2024.

Endre Harvold Kvangraven is a writer, researcher, and wildlife enthusiast. He has lived in various African countries and is now based in Norway. His current research focuses on the relationships between humans and birds in contemporary Scandinavian literature, examining themes such as ornithological practice, identification, and care. He is a PhD candidate at the University of Stavanger, associated with the Greenhouse Centre for Environmental Humanities.

Kvangraven is the author of "Ulv i det norske kulturlandskapet" (Res Publica, 2021), a work of literary nonfiction that examines the role of wolves in Norwegian cultural history. During his residency in Svalbard, he will be working on a new book about birds.

In addition to his writing, Kvangraven will be hosting a lunchtime lecture as part of the Longyearbyen Literature Festival. The lecture, titled ‘Lunsjforedrag: Fugler i nyere norsk litteratur’ will explore the representation of birds in recent Norwegian literature.
