Artica Svalbard Recognised Among Artnet's Top 35 Artist Residencies Worldwide

We are excited to announce that Artica Svalbard has been featured in Artnet's prestigious selection of the top 35 artist residencies globally. This recognition highlights our program's commitment to fostering creative exploration and critical conversations around climate change, geopolitics, and migration within the unique environment of the Arctic.

Being included alongside world-renowned programs such as the Rome Prize and the Rijksakademie residency affirms Artica Svalbard’s role as a leading platform for artists addressing urgent global issues. We are honoured to be recognised by Artnet and will continue to support artists and writers in their efforts to create meaningful and impactful work.

Based in Longyearbyen, Artica Svalbard offers artists and writers a distinctive residency experience that encourages deep engagement with the local community and the fragile ecosystem of Svalbard. As part of our mission, we provide private accommodation, shared studio spaces, and opportunities for collaboration with our partners, including the Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum, the Office for Contemporary Art Norway, the Queen Sonja Print Award, and the Norwegian Nonfiction Writers and Translators Association (NFFO).

For more information about our residency program and how to apply, please visit our Funded Residencies and Independently Funded Residencies pages.

Thank you for being part of our community and supporting our mission to connect art, environment,
and society in the Arctic.
