Announcing Artica Listens 2021

Once a year, Artica Svalbard hosts one of the Arctic’s most significant art events Artica Listens. The event aims to highlight urgent issues related to the polar regions and their global influence.

We are excited to announce that this years event will feature a solo presentation of new work by artist Ignas Krunglevičius.

Krunglevičius will compose and produce a sonic installation inside a disused power plant in Longyearbyen, Svalbard which closed its doors in 1984 and has remained virtually untouched ever since. By manipulating the ambiance and acoustic reverberation, Krunglevičius aims to provoke conversation about the future of a community and its identity, by recalling a vivid evocation of its past.

The installation will be open to the public from September 18th 2021, further details will be announced soon.
