In residence: April - June 2024

Roald Berg is professor emeritus of modern history at the University of Stavanger, working mainly with polar history, foreign and defence policy history. He has contributed to several works on the history of Norwegian foreign policy, defence history and polar history.

Roald Berg has published, among other things, the introductory book "Norwegian Foreign Policy after 1814", a volume in the history of the Norwegian Armed Forces, co-authored Norwegian Polar History, and contributed chapters to "The Cambridge History of the Polar Regions" and "A History of the European Restoration", edited several history anthologies, written a number of articles in international journals and contributed to the dissemination of history and international politics in chronicles, lectures and interviews nationally and internationally.

During his residency at Artica, he will embark on a book about the history of Norwegian polar imperialism, centred on one of the key players who was around at the turn of the century.
