We are very pleased to welcome our final summer resident, Nikhil Vettukattil

Nikhil Vettukattil in Longyearbyen, August 2023

This month we are pleased to welcome our ninth resident Nikhil Vettukattil

Nikhil Vettukattil (b.1990, Bengaluru, India) is an artist and writer based in Oslo. Using a range of media such as sound, installation, performance, text, sculpture, and video, his practice questions modes of representation and image-making processes in their relation to lived experiences. While in residence at Artica, Nikhil will develop new work that incorporates research into food and diet, specifically in relation to the ‘Nordic diet’ and the influence of imported and exported food.

We are also delighted to announce that Nikhil is one of two artists to receive the NAARCA art commission for new work to be completed in Spring 2024. You can learn more about the commissions and NAARCA here

Vettukattil has been nominated by our key partner Office for Contemporary Art Norway (OCA) and will be staying until October. You can find out more about all the current and upcoming residents here.
