Introducing Artica’s next resident Jessica MacMillan
Joining us in November, Jessica is an artist and amateur astronomer based in Oslo, Norway. Through kinetic sculpture, 3D animation, and installation, MacMillan's work investigates concepts in astronomy and planetary science. During the residency MacMillan will present Time Line, an outdoor installation featuring a single high-powered green laser that will be pointed to, and follow the solar apex:
"There is a place in the night sky you can look to see where our planet—our solar system—is heading. Just like how Polaris, the North Star, happens to mark the axis of rotation for our planet, there happens to be a point in our northern hemisphere that marks the direction our sun is traveling: just a few degrees away from the star Lambda Herculis." (Jessica MacMillan)
Jessica has been nominated by our key partner the Office for Contemporary Art Norway (OCA) You can read more about Jessica here.
