We are continuing our series of creative writing workshops! Join us Monday 10th of June (14-16hr) at Artica Svalbard for a creative writing workshop led by Longyearbyen-based writer Kelsey Camacho.

How can we tell stories through the natural world? How do our personal memories merge with the landscape? What does ice help us remember? This writing workshop is an opportunity to explore these ideas.

This is a general writing workshop open to everyone, from beginning writers to those who do it every day. The goal is to provide a space where people can express what they want to, in whichever language they are comfortable with. Sharing is not a requirement, but those who want to are more than welcome to do so.

The workshop will contain different activities with sections of writing, reading, and discussing. There will be plenty of time for experimenting with different writing tools such as detail, memory, and metaphor. We’ll also be looking at different forms of writing.

About the moderator: Kelsey Camacho is a resident of Longyearbyen, where she works as a dog-sledding guide and writer. In November and December 2017, she was in residence at Artica Svalbard and wrote nonfiction essays about her experiences on Svalbard. Her work has appeared in Dark Mountain, Nowhere Magazine, Entropy, Proximity, and elsewhere.
